• LIVESTOCK FARMERS’ BENEFIT FROM FREE VET SERVICES

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, January 8 (PIA) — Livestock and poultry farmers here continue to receive free vet services from the local government for disease protection, prevention, and treatment.

More than 10,000 livestock animals were served last year, consisting mostly of cattle, carabao, swine, and goat, with over 6,000 farming farmers helped.

Provincial Veterinarian Louis S. Bollozos said the office continues to sustain this, for them to be in the forefront of establishing and developing the livestock industry in the province, in support to the government’s food security program.

The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) conducts a regular massive vaccination for these animals, twice in a year. Other services also include animal treatment, deworming/defluking, and castration.

The physical accomplishment for treatment pegs to more the 6,000 animal heads across all species, close to 8,000 animals heads dewormed, and more than 900 animal heads castrated.

Meanwhile, PVO has also strengthened its quarantine measures for animals and dogs alike, in all ports of entries to further protect its livestock from other forms of diseases. (JCV/PIA)
