CAMIGUIN RESPONDERS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE 16-DAY SEARCH AND RESCUE AUXILIARY TRAINING

In line with the celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Division, in partnership with the Philippine Air Force, conducted a 16-day Search and Rescue Auxiliary Training (SARAT) course to further capacitate our DRRMOs to effectively and efficiently respond to various disasters, calamities, or emergency situations. 

The training started on 24 July 2023 at Camiguin Convention Center, Capitol Hills, Pandan, Mambajao, Camiguin wherein it was actively participated by different local government units/agency such as: Mambajao, Mahinog, Guinsiliban, Sagay, Catarman, and CGH and was facilitated by the 505th Search and Rescue Group, headed by MAJ Reymond B. Valera PAF.

The participants underwent a series of intensive training exercises that include Rescue Swimming and Lifesaving Techniques, Rope Rescue Techniques, Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue, and lastly the Vehicle Road Accident Rescue.

On 08 August 2023, 37 strong and dedicated responders successfully completed their 16-day intensive SARAT training. Governor Xavier Jesus D. Romualdo,  Cong. Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo, and Philippine Air Force Officers that include Commanding General Philippine Air Force, LTGEN Stephen P. Parreño PAF, Group Commander, 505th Search and Rescue Group, Col Nomer G. Tumesa PAF (MNSA), Group Commander, Tactical Operation Group 10, Col Harold V. Hernando PAF (GSC), and the Chief, Office of the Legislative, BGEN Acmad U. Omar, Jr. PAF graced the graduation ceremony.

We cannot stop the natural disasters but we can arm ourselves with knowledge. Let us continue to support the local government to a more resilient province!
