ESSENTIAL HEALTH CARE PROGRAM (EHCP)
Essential Health Care Program (EHCP) is a special program of the Provincial Government of Camiguin which provides health care kits for personal hygiene to all public pre-schoolers and elementary children province-wide. The EHCP kit includes toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, nail cutter, lice comb and licealiz shampoo.
Oral check-up with preventive and curative services to school children, monitoring the toothbrushing drill in different schools and evaluation of the health facilities of public elementary schools regularly take place.
This program was developed to improve the health status and scholastic performance of Camiguingnon children by reducing the burden of oral diseases through daily toothbrushing with fluoride toothpaste, handwashing and grooming.
NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM (NIP)
The National Immunization Program (NIP) is a nationwide collaborative effort to reduce morbidity and mortality among children against the most common vaccine-preventable diseases. It aims to achieve high vaccination coverage rates, reduce disease burden, and contribute to overall public health improvement.
The strategies and interventions include promoting routine immunization services through community outreach and education programs, identify and target children who have missed scheduled vaccinations and prioritize populations at higher risk of vaccine-preventable diseases. Furthermore, a consistent and sufficient supply of vaccines is ensured through strategic procurement and efficient supply chain management. Vaccination centers, outreach clinics, and mobile immunization units are also established to reach populations with limited access to healthcare facilities.
NATIONAL TUBERCULOSIS CONTROL PROGRAM
The National Tuberculosis Control Program is one of the public health programs being managed and coordinated by the Infectious Diseases for Prevention and Control Division (IDPCD) of the Disease Prevention and Control Bureau (DPCB) of the DOH. Centers for Health Development (CHD), through its regional NTP teams, manage the TB program at the regional level while the PHOs through its provincial teams, are responsible for the TB control efforts in the provinces.
The Provincial Health Office closely works with the 5 Rural Health Units through its Directly Observed Treatment Short Course (DOTS) facilities to ensure the quality of all TB care and prevention services in the province.
Universal access to quality TB prevention is prioritized through diagnosis, management, and treatment services at all life stages. Responsive and functional service delivery networks for TB service are also ensured through rigid case finding and case holding. Capacity building and advocacy activities regularly take place as well as the monitoring and mentoring activities among patients and health care workers respectively.
