CAMIGUIN CELEBRATES 47TH FOUNDATION ANNIVERSARY
MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, January 8 (PIA) — The island-province welcome on January 7 its 47th Foundation Day Anniversary with grand parade that leads right to a steaming display of a lechon (roasted pigs) prepared for a cook fest.
“Makanunayong Kalambuan sa Nagkahiusang Kamigingnon” (Continuity of Progress of United Kamigingnon) stands as this year’s theme, while the governor’s State of the Province Address (SOPA) highlighted the opening salvo followed by the ceremonial raising of the banners.
In his message, governor Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo capsulated success and development in the province with transparency and good governance.
“Camiguin needs a strong leader who can make and implement a decision. That decision may not always be a “correct decision,” what is more important is that it will make or bring the best possible result for the community,” he said.
Meanwhile, activities like the traditional fun games dubbed as “Pista sa Nayon,” marching band completion, street parties, sports tournament, ground demonstration, and the search for Mr. and Ms. Teen Camiguin 2015 were among those lined-up for the week-long festivity.
A medical mission for cataract as well as free make-over sessions for the senior citizens was also initiated. (JCV/PIA)
